Keep Your EV Charger & Electric Car Safe in Lightning Storms

Don’t charge your car in a lightning storm

After we received a phone call from one of our clients after receiving a  lightning strike to their house. We found that the Internet routers on the whole estate has blown up. Their main fuse board have blown up and the fuse board in the garden shed had blown up. With no Power it’s 7 o’clock on a Friday night we upgraded the fuse board and make the system safe and it’ll repair later on.

The neighbour called Over who had his car on charge. The thunderstorm had fried the car and the car charger. He was playing hot potato with the insurance companies car saying it’s the house, house saying it’s the car either way the car was toast.

The house insurance will also say no surge protection has been fitted on the house and when the insurance company start asking for these things. We will advise our customers they need to fit them.

And that’s why we’re writing this blog because we don’t want your electric car to get Fried in a  lightning storm. So make sure you unplug your car if a thunderstorm is coming.
